My person of the day!

I want to start a new category about my'person of the day'. He/she doesn’t have to be someone I know, could be just a stranger I meet on the street. Sometimes we meet random people, strangers who have an impact in our lives or just in our daily routine. My person of the day is this cleaning lady in my building. She is probably old enough to be my grandmother. She is either cleaning the lobby or the elevator when Im on my way out to work in the morning. She smiles at me and say 'good morning sweetie', I smile back and wish her a good day. I dont know her name and she doesnt know mine. I don't know where she lives or where she is from. I dont know what's going on in her life. If something was to happen to her, I would never never find out. If she were to die tomorrow I would never know, but I always start my days with her smile. My mornings wouldnt be the same if I missed her on my way out! She is my person of the day, coz though I dont know her and we live in 2 different worlds, she is a part of my morning routine!
Who is your 'person of the day'?

aaw...that reminds me of the cleaning woman at HP. She always had a red lipstick on and will also tell me everything good today? okay, bye bye love.
I tried once to have a conversation with her but there's a language barrier. For the longest time, i thought she was jamaican when i heard her speak one day Haitian creole.

Not that i speak it, but when i moved out, i asked my haitian friend a few sentences on how to say that i'd like to give her some of my stuff(plates, pots, a few furniture pieces), she was so happy!
She wanted to invite me over at her house but we never made it....

Aw, what a sweet post. Well written and a good reminder to appreciate the people we meet/pass.

This reminds me of the old man who used to distribute the free paper next to the metro station in Chevy Chase. I used to see him every morning before dashing to take the metro to work and he always said something sweet like 'good morning baby' and would chat with everyone. After a few months, I noticed his disapearance, for some reaosn I knew something was wrong. A few days later his wife came and announced to everyone his passing. It was so sad and it affected me a lot. I took her contact details and went to visit her in her house. She cried and told me about how he passed away. God puts people on our way for a reason: it can be as simple as making us feel good, brightening our day, to comforting and assisting others.
