Breaking News from the Ghost

I can't believe it's been more than 2 months since the last time I've been around! Time flies! Thank you all for your sweet comments and emails. I am doing fine, alhamdulilah. Just been on a roller coaster emotionally and physically these past months and did not really feel want to blog about it. I guess you can say I've been through phases of euphoria and depression, ups and downs and when that happens I tend to hibernate and not share too much. I want to apologize for not having replied to each one of your comments personally. See, when I started this blog, I made it a point to reply to every one who took time to share something with me, be it through email or just a comment on the blog. I haven't been able to do that lately and it saddens me. It's important for me that you know that when you take time out of your busy day to write a line or two on my blog, I really appreciate it and the least I can do is get back to you! However, things don't always work out the way we plan them sometimes.

My other secret is that I am 6 months pregnant and expecting a little girl. Sorry for keeping you out of the loop, it's just that we wanted to tell our family and friends first. I don't think they would've been particularly thrilled to read about the addition of a new member somewhere on Blogger's world lol. I'm excited though and sometimes it's still surreal that I will be a mother very soon inshaAllah but it's sinking in slowly but surely! Please make duas for us and keep us in your prayers.

Aww mashAllah, congrats! I remember when I was 6 months pregnant with my daughter, I had a moment where it really all sank in that I was going to be a mother and it actually really scared me. I'm 4 months pregnant right now and it still really hasn't hit me yet, but I know it will. Just one piece of advice though, sleep in now, in 3 months you won't know the meaning of sleep :P

Struggling,
Mashallah, congrats on your pregnancy. I remember when I was 4 months and was still wondering if there was really a baby in my belly lol. I will take your advice and sleep as much as I can now:)

Oh how wonderful!!!!! So this is your first baby? How exciting! My first baby has just now fallen asleep for her nap after being given a bath to help her cool down. It's hot!! She's 8 months old now. Motherhood is such a wonderful, crazy, sanity-testing adventure hahahaha!!!

Michelle Therese said...

Yeah... sleep... oooooh boy. You're in for some fun. But usually, 9 times out of 10, when the baby hits 3 months of age there's a massive shift!! They go from being a grumpy, panicky newborn to chilling out more. They even start to smile and interact more... so remember this when you're about to keel over and die from Newbornitis: IT'S TEMPORARY!! Hang on for that first yowza three months!

Newborns are soooooo sweet but they only have an LOUD button and an OFF button ~ and when they are awake many of them are SCREAMING hahahahaha! Everything is cause for panic with a newborn. Hunger = death. Mom not being right there = death.

All that the newborn can think of is SURVIVAL. Keep that in mind and you'll totally understand why the newborn freaks out so much. It'll help you have compassion when you're sleep deprived, starving, and drooling on yourself. (Newborns always want to eat right when you want to use the bathroom, sleep, or eat food yourself LOL! Make sure you use the bathroom and have some snacks and water right there at hand **before** you start feeding baby!!)

Assalam-alaikam,

Congratulation's on your pregnanacy, may Allah SWT keep you and your precious little one well in the coming months, do savour every minute, those first days will go so quickly.

I can't think of anything more precious than a little girl - the tiny little party frocks and pink booties, yes, but moreso the little notes and letters, pretending to make you 10 cups of tea with their little toy set and asking if you are tired - girls are so different from boys right from the off. You are going to love being her mum!

Coffee Catholic,
Yes, it's my first baby. How's your daughter doing? People are telling me that it takes time to get used to the first few months, but that time should be enjoyed coz it goes away so quickly and they grow up so fast! Thanks for your advice LOL, I will try to remember all those things when I'm sleep and food deprived, great lol.

Inspired Muslimah,
Thank you :)

Masha'Allah! May Allah ease your burdens and suffering and make it an easy birth.

SubhanAllah your life is about to change forever hon. The moment that baby enteres this amazing world will begin your jouney on selflessly giving it all your love time and energy and nothing else (besides Allah) will seem as important.
You should do everything you possibly can NOW while you're still not so big and waddling around lol. Read lots of books, or write a book lol, finish that organizing and preparing, get everything possible out of your way that takes TIME and energy to do cause once that baby comes you'll be lucky to find time for a shower much less anything else.
Enjoy that baby where it is right now, happily feeding from the inside and peacefully comfortable being carried to and fro. Remember you ARE already a mother. Taking care of it from the inside. May Allah reward you so much.
Being a mother is so increadibly amazing. I felt the most important thing to always remeber is that you are it's teacher for the rest of it's life. From day one you are teaching the child what the world is and what it is expected to do and how to see the beauty in everything.
Much Love, brandy Aminah-Zahira

Ameen for your sweet duas and thanks for the advice. I will try and get as much sleep as I can. I can't wait to be a mummy and hold my baby and teach her everything I know inshaAllah. I will need advice from veteran mommies like yourself though :) Love!
