Reporting from the White House

On Saturday, I actively took part to a protest against the slaughter of children and civilians by the zionist state of Israil. The protest started in front of the White House and went on all the way to the Washington Post and other main landmarks in DC.

As for any war, there were 2 groups. One that was fighting for ideals, for more integrity, more justice and more fairness. For them, the cry of a mother in Gaza was equal to the cry of a mother in the United States, the cry of a child in Gaza was equal to the cry of a child in the US. Injustice is always wrong, occupation is wrong and justice can not be achieved idly. Justice has always been achieved by the men and women who begged to differ from the masses and stood for what their consciences dictated. That was the noble side. Let's not forget that 'civilization can only revive when there shall come into being in a number of individuals a new tone of mind, independent of the prevalent one among the crowds, and in opposition to it -- a tone of mind which will gradually win influence over the collective one, and in the end determine its character. Only an ethical movement can rescue us from barbarism, and the ethical comes into existence only in individuals'.
The other side was there for one purpose: they were trying to divert the protesters for justice. Unfortunately for them, they were only about 4 people against thousands. For once, the side for justice and truth was bigger than the evil side.

I almost slapped the man who stopped me in front of the white house, looking at me with desperate sad eyes, he dared to show me an Israeli Newspapers and with a straight face he told me : Israil needs Gaz. I paused for a minute, looked at him and all I could say was : Are you for real?. I couldn't comprehend how a human being could be so evil as to ignore values, truth, justice and every other ideal people fight for. In the end, there were no winners, no losers, just two groups nurtured by the same country, but so different in their values. At the end of the day, each of the participants went home , each bringing with them a sense of accomplishment, or a sense of failure....Failure to step for the right ideals....but who are we to judge?Conscience shouldn't get the best of us.
In any case, there was a big support from people from New York and New Jersey who came with drums and blow horns. The white house heard Israel's name like they never did before. It was associated with genocide, crimes, starvation, ,murder, and corruption. Today, tourists, Americans, or fellow passer bys got to see what Palestine was about. In front of the Washington Post, tens of thousands of people made sure to scream: Washington Post, you did not report us, can you see us now? Washington Post, you did not report us, can you hear us now?

These people had a voice, they had ideals, they wanted the whole world to know that somewhere, in the middle east, zionist were free to kill whomsoever they wanted, zionists were tearing apart what took ages to build, zionists were a terrorist nation. So with them, I shouted: No to genocide, Yes to justice. Not one more penny, not one more dime, no more money to Isreil. I screamed my lungs out, and just like the people at my side, I did not feel the rain, I did not feel the cold, I did not feel the hail, I did not feel hungry or thirsty after 4 hours of marching.... My hope, our hope was that somewhere up in the sky an angel would hear our prayers and passes the message to the Almighty and then maybe then, we will get our reward...And for that, we will keep on protesting!

A man wearing a black mask as a symbol of death thanking Bush and Cheney for 8 years of murder, torture and destruction.

You can see Orthodox Jews wearing black hats and long beards on this picture. They do not support the zionist state of Israil. They beleive that the very existence of the state of Israil is against the teachings in the Thora as Jewish people were ordered by the God of Humanity not to establish a land anywhere on earth! You can find out more at Jews Against Zionism

You can see snipers on the roof of the white house ready to act if anyone dared to get closer.....

Justice is conscience, not a personal conscience but the conscience of the whole of humanity. Those who clearly recognize the voice of their own conscience usually recognize also the voice of justice.

The fundamental rights of humanity are, first: the right of habitation; second, the right to move freely; third, the right to the soil and subsoil, and to the use of it; fourth, the right of freedom of labor and of exchange; fifth, the right to justice; sixth, the right to live within a natural national organization; and seventh, the right to education. It is better to die on your feet than live on your knees. Our people are occupied, resistance is justified!

This child was so engaged, lol. He kept shouting : From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free! La Ilaha Ilala, Muhammadu Rassululah. It was very emotional to watch!

Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe.

Peace, in the sense of the absence of war, is of little value to someone who is dying of hunger or cold. It will not remove the pain of torture inflicted on a prisoner of conscience. It does not comfort those who have lost their loved ones in floods caused by senseless deforestation in a neighboring country. Peace can only last where human rights are respected, where the people are fed, and where individuals and nations are free.

I'm not angry at Israil anymore!

I remember being extremely angry at Israil when they attacked Gaza few days ago. I remember watching the air raids and the tanks, I remember seeing bodies of women and children, I remember crying out of anger. But today, after spending my weekend on my couch watching every american news channel, watching every news report of Al-Jazeera, I am not angry at Israil anymore. See, Israil only did what they were allowed to do, we the citizens of the world have given Israil the green light with our leaders sitting in nice offices, flowers on their desks while somewhere people are dying coz they don't have access to water. No, I can't be angry at Israil anymore, there are not even 1 million of Israilis in this world, where are the voices of the billions of us? If we all spit, they will drown, what's wrong with us? What's wrong with Humanity? How can we tolerate in the 21st century that food, water, medicine and electritity can be used as weapons against a people ? How can we accept the equation that 5 Isreili lives equal 500 Palestinian lives? Are the muslim leaders high on crack? or did they forget that by saying La Ilaha Ilalah, they signed a truce with Allah that they will not stay silent in the face of Injustice? Well, after all, these are the same governments that watched, aided and supported Israils blockade of Gaza , I guess out of collective punishment for the Gazan population for daring to vote Hamas. Shame on you !Shame on you Ummah of Rassululah! Is this the legacy of your beloved prophet? Is this how you implement the teachings of the most noble man who walked on the face of this earth? Shame on you! You have the blood of children and women who will be witnesses against you on the day of reckoning! Shame on you! Shame on you every day that you get off your bed without a though for this ummah! Shame on you for every meal that you eat while mothers stand in line for hours for a loaf of bread! Shame on you! Shame on you for every sip of water you drink while your brothers and sisters in Gaza don't have access to water! Shame on you! Shame on you Egypt! You are the nation of Musa but you're acting as Pharaoh! Shame on you Egypt, how can you eat while your neighbors go to bed hungry? Egypt did you forget that your beloved prophet said He will not enter Paradise whose neighbour is not secure from his wrongful conduct. Did you forget that he said, "By Allah, he does not believe! By Allah, he does not believe! By Allah, he does not believe!" It was said, "Who is that, O Allah's Apostle?" He said, "That person whose neighbor does not feel safe from his evil." Why did you close the gate on the people of Gaza, oh Egypt, how can you eat and sleep at night?, Isn't your prophet the one who said He is not believing in me, the one who sleeps full while his neighbor is hungry... But the truth is he is your prophet, the truth is some of you at the gate blocking the people of GAZA do pray 5 times a day, the truth is Rassululah was your prophet, the truth is I am ashamed of you! And it is to you, Arab leaders, Muslim leaders that I am angry at! I am ashamed of you! I am ashamed that we beleive in the same GOD! The more I think about it, the more I want to puke! You are slaves of your image and desires! The people in Palestine might be surrounded and occupied but they are more free than you! They have inner Freedom, that freedom that you can never understand coz you're too busy slaving for the West, petrodollars, gold and dunya! They have freedom of the heart, freedom from hypocrisy, freedom from this dunya. I am proud of them and I am ashamed of you!! As I am writing this, I can't help but wonder who just died in Gaza? Who's crying for her son right now? Who's crying for her daugher? Who's crying for a mother? Who's crying for a father? Who's crying for Humanity? If you're crying, I will console you with the verses from your Lord, in surah Al Imran:

Think not of those who are killed in the Way of Allâh as dead. Nay, they are alive, with their Lord, and they have provision.
They rejoice in what Allâh has bestowed upon them of His Bounty, rejoicing for the sake of those who have not yet joined them, but are left behind that on them no fear shall come, nor shall they grieve.
They rejoice in a Grace and a Bounty from Allâh, and that Allâh will not waste the reward of the believers.
Those who answered (the Call of) Allâh and the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) after being wounded; for those of them who did good deeds and feared Allâh, there is a great reward
Those (i.e. believers) unto whom the people (hypocrites) said, "Verily, the people (pagans) have gathered against you (a great army), therefore, fear them." But it (only) increased them in Faith, and they said: "Allâh (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us).[]"

So they returned with Grace and Bounty from Allâh. No harm touched them; and they followed the good Pleasure of Allâh. And Allâh is the Owner of Great Bounty

It is only the Evil One that suggests to you the fear of his votaries: Be ye not afraid of them, but fear Me, if ye have Faith.(V169-174)

"They found her body in the kitchen"

I was moved by this story and wanted to share it

Testimony, B'Tselem, 4 January 2009 (Article From Electronic Intifada)

Abdallah Tawfiq Hamdan Kashku, 44, married with four children, is a policeman who mediates disputes and is a resident of Gaza City. His testimony was given to Khaled Azaiza on 30 December 2008 alongside the family's bereavement tent:

My family and I live in a three-floor house in al-Zeitun, Gaza City. On Sunday [28 December], around 7:00pm, I was sitting with nine members of my family around a bonfire in the yard. It was cold, and we didn't have electricity to heat the house. I asked my little daughter, Ibtihal, who is eight, go up to the second floor, to the apartment of her brother Talal and his wife to ask for some chamomile for tea. She got up and went upstairs.

I turned on the generator to turn on the light. Then we heard the sound of planes in the sky. I heard a buzz and within a few seconds, I found myself under ruins. Everything collapsed so quickly, like in an earthquake. I didn't know what happened to me or to my family. I began to cry out for help. The smoke was thick. I couldn't see any of my family, who had been sitting with me a few moments earlier.

It took a few moments before I realized that the house had collapsed because of the bomb. Neighbors rushed over to lift the ruins off us. People took my family to the hospital, some by car and some by ambulance. I was taken to al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza, where the doctors examined and treated me. I was lightly wounded, a bit in the leg. Later, a doctor came and asked me to identify a woman's body. I went with him and immediately saw that it was Talal's wife, Maysa Munir Yihya Kashku. She had been struck in the head. I asked my relatives and the doctors where the rest of my family was. They told me that my wife had a broken pelvis and that the others suffered light wounds but that they hadn't found my little daughter, Ibtihal. I felt horrible, worrying so much about her. I felt even worse because she had gone upstairs because of me, after I asked her to bring me chamomile.

Early the next morning, my brothers went home to look for Ibtihal. They looked under the ruins and found her body in the kitchen on the second floor.
Almost the entire house collapsed. The kitchen on the second floor was hanging above the ruins.

Our house was in a quiet area. I don't think there are military objects in the area. We don't have relatives or neighbors who are wanted. I am still in shock from what happened. In a few moments time, the life of my family turned completely upside down.

Get Active for Gaza - Sign Petition

CAIR today launched an online petition drive to collect one million signatures urging our nation's leaders to speak "in favor of peace and justice for all parties in the current humanitarian crisis unfolding in the Gaza Strip."

When completed, the petition will be sent to elected officials nationwide and will be given to members of the current and incoming administrations.

Please take a minute right now to sign the petition and forward it to your friends, family and other contacts.

To sign the petition, go to Petition

The petition states:

"We, the undersigned people of conscience who respect international law and the sanctity of human life, urge you to speak out for peace and justice for all parties in the Middle East crisis.

"We are concerned that the current violence and ongoing humanitarian crisis is further eroding America's international image. For this reason, a strong, balanced stance from you that is aimed at fostering an enduring peace is vital.

"Unfortunately, all parties in the Middle East conflict have committed violence against civilians. We unequivocally condemn all of these actions.

"The European Union (EU), Russia, the UN Secretary-General, the Arab League, the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), and other international bodies are all urging Israel to end it attacks.

"Middle East Envoy Tony Blair deplored the "tragic of loss of life," while French President Nicolas Sarkozy condemned Israel's "disproportionate use of force."

"EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said the Israeli attacks were "inflicting an unacceptable toll on Palestinian civilians and will only worsen the humanitarian crisis as well as complicate the search for a peaceful solution."

"Unfortunately, our nation's one-sided response to this tragic episode will only serve to fuel anti-American sentiments in the Muslim world and beyond.

"We therefore call on you to demonstrate your commitment to changing our nation's current one-sided Mideast policy by speaking out now in favor of peace and justice for all parties to this decades-long conflict."

~It will not be a happy new year for me~

I just realized that it's been a week since I've done anything on this blog!! This is a busy time for me at work as we need to get a lot of reports out before the end of the year. Alhamdulilah, I made it this far! Few days ago, on Dec 29th, it was the beginning of the Islamic Year (A.H 1430) while the world watched as our brothers and sisters were being killed in Gaza! The pictures and testimonies at the Palestinian Holocaust Museum are heartbreaking. We see these images, watch the news on tv, but our lives go on, we eat out, go shopping, buy gifts for our families, and laugh as if we were watching a movie and not the news. We have detached ourselves from the reality of the News, the reality of death. We are so used of the news of death that it doesn't feel real anymore,it's like watching scenes from a scary movie,we're scared for a few minutes but when the movie is over, we forget everything, we're back to our normal happy life, after all it was just some images on a screen. As, I'm writing this, I'm sitting in my comfy office with my heat on, sipping on my morning coffee, and I feel like I'm not much better than the rest. But today, I beg to differ, when the lights will go out, when the count will begin for a new year, when the world will celebrate on their successes and accomplishments, when champagne glasses will be raised and toasted, wishes of health and prosperity exchanged, it will not be a happy new year for me. Tonight, my thoughts will be in Gaza, for all those families who will sleep on empty stomachs, terror in their hearts, darkness in their homes. My thoughts will be for all these mothers in Gaza who are tearing at the loss of their children, the jobless fathers who can't feed their families, the elders who are waiting for death...Palestine, how more can I cry with you? Tonight, I beg to differ, it will not be a happy new year for me~

Dedicated to my fellow brothers and sisters in Palestine, specifically Gaza. We will not watch this genocide and remain apathetic. We will not allow another “Holocaust” to happen, God-Willing. We will not remain silent.

As we sit surrounded by luxury, engrossed in our own lives,
We tend to forget about the world’s struggles and strife.
I cry, I write, and I speak,
For my brothers and sisters in humanity, those helpless and weak,
For the innocent Palestinian lives taken all in just one day,
For the children who lost their mothers in Gaza today,
For the civilians, trapped, living in blockade,
For the bloodshed that continues decade after decade,
For the severely injured who have no access to medical care,
For the elderly folk, who are not even spared,
For the demolished homes and destroyed olive trees,
For the men and women who are not even in their own land, free,
For the dreams, hopes, and optimism, completely crushed,
For the Palestinian voices, all muted and hushed,
For the genocide occurring afore our own eyes,
For the déjà vu of a Holocaust, buried among justification for the sake of security and other wretched lies.

I cry, I write, and I speak,
For the situation around the world, seeming so dark and bleak,
For the censored media and news we are being fed,
While others lose their homes and their family members, dead,
For the baseless vilification of the people of Palestine,
For the apathy and the forgetfulness, both your fault and mine,
For our tax dollars going to fund rockets, bombs, and annihilation,
For this country’s full support of the collective punishment and decimation,
For the thousands who live and die, knowing nothing of this occupation,
Too engrossed in their personal lives, not even caring to expose themselves to this human rights’ violation.
I cry, I write, and I speak,
For the innocent people of Palestine, may God bless them with strength after they were weak.
But I cry, I write, and I speak even more,
Begging us all to learn, read, write, demand and act, I implore.
